Romero’s two children have been part of QCUSD since 2018. One graduated from Queen Creek High School in 2025 and attends Chandler Gilbert Community College, while the other is a rising senior at Queen Creek High.
A former business teacher and department chair at Tempe High School, Romero now works as a clinical manager at Stryker, where he said he leads a 25-person regional team.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Fort Lewis College and a master’s in psychology from the University of Phoenix, which he said adds a data-driven, analytical lens to complex community issues and student well-being initiatives.
He said his experience as a teacher and department chair gives him firsthand insight into curriculum development, classroom dynamics, and the daily challenges facing teachers and students.
Additionally, Romero said a background in sales management and business banking, including his time as an assistant branch manager at Wells Fargo Bank, built a strong foundation in budget management and resource allocation.
“My campaign is built on keeping divisive politics out of classrooms and focused on a few straightforward commitments: protecting our kids, supporting teachers, partnering with parents, and eliminating wasteful spending that doesn’t impact student success,” he said.
